An Illinois resident is celebrating the new year in a big way after capturing a $1 million Lottery jackpot. According to Illinois Lottery officials, the state officially has its first $1 million-draw game winner of the new year after the jackpot was captured during the January 4 evening draw of the Lucky Day Lotto game.

Two metro-east counties landed among the top 10 for state lottery ticket spending in fiscal year 2025, according to the Illinois Lottery. St. Clair County landed in seventh place for lottery ticket sales, while Madison County followed closely in eighth. Each county saw more than $62 million in Illinois Lottery sales.

According to FOX 32 Chicago, the winning numbers for the Jan. 4 evening Lucky Day Lotto drawing were 19-28-30-40-42, and the top prize for hitting all five was set at $1,000,000. The outlet reports that the lucky ticket was purchased online through the Illinois Lottery’s official system.
